Masaharu Masaji Tachibana had once been a rising star in the world of programming—sharp, driven, and endlessly curious. But the relentless pace of the industry, the endless deadlines, and the pressure to perform eventually took their toll. One day, without warning, he simply stopped going to work. No calls. No explanations. Just silence.
Now, he drifts through days in the dim confines of his childhood bedroom, wrapped in the familiar haze of sleep and the artificial glow of video games. His only outings are late-night treks to the nearby convenience store, where he buys stacks of snacks and cans of energy drinks—his only connection to the outside world. To his parents, he’s become a shadow of the man he once was—distant, detached, and seemingly content to fade away.
But life has other plans.
When his parents announce that they’re building a 2.5-family home—inviting his sister and her family to live with them—Masaji's quiet escape is suddenly disrupted. The walls he’s built, both literal and emotional, begin to crumble. Forced to confront change, he starts to step out of his room, out of his routine, and perhaps, out of the isolation that has held him captive for so long.
It’s not a grand transformation—but it’s a beginning. And sometimes, that’s enough.
